Best Love Songs:

  1. “Sparks Fly” — My personal favorite of her songs, Swift captures raw passion and loses herself in the happiness that somebody gives her as the two pine after each other. Best lyric: “Drop everything now, meet me in the pouring rain, kiss me on the sidewalk, take away the pain”
  2. “Cruel Summer” — Another fan favorite with a killer bridge. Best lyric: “I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you” & “I screamed for whatever it’s worth, “I love you, ” ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?”
  3. “You Are in Love” — A truly perfect love song. The lyrics speak for themselves. Best lyric: “You kiss on sidewalks, you fight and you talk” & “One night he wakes, strange look on his face, pauses, then says, you’re my best friend”
  4. “The Way I Loved You” — An iconic track from her second album, Swift looks back on a “one that got away” that she’ll always be drawn to. Best lyric: “But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, it’s 2 a.m. and I’m cursing your name”

Best Breakup Songs:

  1. “Illicit Affairs” — Swift encapsulates the pain of hidden relationships, AKA the ones that don’t really make it to Valentine’s Day. Best lyric: “You know damn well, for you, I would ruin myself, a million little times”
  2. “The Story of Us” — One of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, Swift describes the iconic moment when she unexpectedly saw her ex, John Mayer, at an award show. “I’d tell you I miss you but I don’t know how, I’ve never heard silence quite this loud.”
  3. “my tears ricochet” — This is arguably Taylor Swift’s best song. Best lyric: “And I can go anywhere I want, just not home, and you can aim for my heart go for blood, but you would still miss me in your bones” & “you turned into your worst fears”
  4. “All Too Well” (10 minute version)  — If you’re going to listen to one Taylor Swift breakup song, it should probably be this one. Best lyric: “And there we are again when nobody had to know, you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath” & “cause there we are again when I loved you so, back before you lost the one real thing you’ve ever known.”
